2025 President Federation Cup: Kwara Utd Wins, Gov AbdulRazaq Showers Encomium
Kwara State Governor and the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbduRazaq has congratulated the people of the state, home and abroad on the achievement of Harmony Boys of Kwara United who brought home the 2025 President Federation Cup
Governor AbdulRazaq who made this known in a statement at the weekend after the tournament, described the achievement as the first time any team from the state has ever won since 1967 when Kwara was created.
The Governor notes that the win testifies to the power of team spirit, discipline, determination, and grit.
Governor AbdulRazaq stresses that the victory over the Abakaliki FC comes on the heels of yet another win as the state contingent to the Senior President Debate Competition has emerged the national champion for the first time ever.
”This victory is not a coincidence. For three unbroken editions, our pupils under the State Universal Basic Education have remained the national champions in the President School Debate Competition. I commend the Kwara contingents that have made us proud”
”All of these go to show that our feats in different aspects are not a flash in the pan, but are deserving fruits of hard work and strategic investments in youth development, sports, education, and other key sectors of the economy” the Governor added.
The state Governor however salutes the players, the coaching crew, the management of Kwara United, the Sports Commission, and supporters’ club for the remarkable feat.
”I am particularly grateful to the people of our state, including Kwarans in Diaspora, for their overwhelming support for the team”
He adds that he look forward to keeping the state in positive spotlights in Nigeria and across the world.
Kwara United won the 2025 President Federation Cup men’s title after a 4-3 penalty shootout win against Abakaliki FC in the final after the game finished goalless in regulation time.
