67-year-old Suspected Car Burglar Apprehended In Ilorin

Kwara – Security Initiative in Ilorin South Local Government area of Kwara state, Nigeria has said to have apprehended one 67-year-old man, Mr. Ebenezer Adeyemi, at Gaa-Akanbi area of Ilorin during the week
According to viral information on social media over the weekend, the suspect was caught in the act, removing car batteries from vehicles parked overnight with possession of spanners, several keys, and other tools.
The suspected street thief was said to have made some confession during interrogation.
It was noted that Mr. Adeyemi had confessed surveying the area for some time before embarking on the criminal act.
The information gathered that the battery burglar had further revealed that he came from the Post Office axis of Ilorin where he resides and disclosed that he had only recently been released from police custody after being arrested for selling illicit Indian hemp to thugs.
He was also quoted that this was not his first time stealing car batteries, stating that he usually sells them to one Mr. Sulaiman in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government area of the state.
Mr. Adeyemi was also said to have confessed to stealing phone gadgets from unsuspecting individuals in the past.
It was also gathered that the Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government, Nuhu Majeed Podo has urged residents across the council area to remain vigilant and continue reporting any suspicious movements or unfamiliar individuals to the appropriate authorities.
It was gathered that the suspect has since been handed over to the A-Division Police Headquarters for further interrogation and necessary legal action.
Meanwhile, the police authority has not made any official disclosure of the incident as at the time of filling in this report.
