Imams, Deputies, Others To Get Monthly Allowances From Sokoto State Govt – Gov Aliyu
SOKOTO – Monthly allowances for Imams, their deputies, and Mu’azzins as well as new cash allocations to Jumu’at Mosques have been introduced by the Sokoto State Government across the state.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu who announced the initiative on Saturday at a graduation ceremony said the move was part of efforts to strengthen Islamic propagation and promote Qur’anic memorisation among children.
“We have also introduced monthly cash allocations to all our Jumu’at Mosques, ranging from N300,000 to N500,000 depending on their category.
“In addition, monthly allowances have been introduced for Imams, their deputies, and Mu’azzins across the state to support them in the discharge of their duties,” the governor stated.
Aliyu added that promoting Islamic affairs remains a key priority of his administration’s “Nine-point Smart Agenda,” second only to security.
He also directed the management of the school to secure land for a permanent site, pledging state support.
