Invasion Of Nigeria: Don’t Distract Tinubu – Bankole Sends Warning To Trump
One of the members of Kwara State House of Assembly Commission and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Honorable Kehinde Alex Bankole (KAB), has joined other stakeholders in the country to send strong warnings to the United States of America President, Donald Trump not to distract President Bola Tinubu from focusing on effective and efficient governance of the country.
Honorable Bankole who made this known in a statement on Tuesday said Nigeria remains a sovereign country and the United Nations Charter has addressed the issue of national sovereignty primarily in Article 2.
Donald Trump had last week Saturday said that he had ordered the Defense Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria as he continues to accuse the nation of not doing enough to stem violence against Christians — an accusation Nigeria has repeatedly denied.
Bankole noted that this article outlines the fundamental principles governing the relations among Member States and the actions of the UN itself.
He said several clauses in Article 2 are key to understanding the UN’s stance on a country’s sovereignty.
He explained that Chapter VII allows the UN Security Council to take action, including the use of force, in situations deemed a “threat to the peace, a breach of the peace, or an act of aggression,” meaning that the Security Council’s authority to maintain international peace can supersede a state’s domestic jurisdiction claim.

Bankole maintained that President Tinubu has done beautifully well in the last two years in office, and he can not be blamed.
Whike condemning President Trump over what he described as “outburst”, Bankole said President Tinubu has been proactive in matters of tackling insecurity since he assumed office.
