Kwara Insecurity Menace: Oke-Ode Community Calls For Quick Measures To Making It Safe Abode For Refugees
Need for Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, establish Internally Displaced People’s Camp (IDP) in Oke-Ode Community, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State has been stressed.
Amid spate of banditry attacks around the axis which caused many to run for their dear lives have made Oke-Ode community thier abode.
The National President of OCDA, Alhaji Ganiyu Ajala Bello, in a statement made available to newsmen, says the call became imperative in order to avoid overcrowding and overstretching of available resources, which can result in the outbreak of serious epidemic diseases.
The statement stresses that several surrounding villages in the Oke-Ode axis have been attacked by bandits and kidnappers who overran the communities, killing and maiming innocent inhabitants with the survivors leaving the villages in search of sanctuary in other towns.

According to the statement released by the National Public Relations Officer of the Community Development Association, Mr Kunle Akogun, the National President also calls on the authorities that establishment of a Military Base in Oke-Ode town will go a long way to flush out bandits and kidnappers in the area, which according to him is an important economic zone in the state.
Alhaji Bello also appeals to the Government to consider establishing a Cattle Ranch in Oke-Ode town as a way of permanently ending the perennial farmers-herders clashes, which he says has turned into banditry and kidnapping which is making life difficult for indigenes and inhabitants of the town.
Oke-Ode Community, however reminds the state government and Police Command of intensifying security efforts to permanently flush out the criminal elements from the Oke-Ode axis and other parts of the state in general.
